About the Creator

Svetlana Fomina is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in architecture, floral design, and painting. Over the past decade, she has become widely recognized as a leading figure in the field of artistic felting, known for her innovative techniques and poetic visual language. Her work bridges fine art and fiber art, combining classical composition, tactile materials, and a deep sensitivity to color and form. Svetlana is especially known for her signature method of “painting with wool” — creating richly layered, tapestry-like images entirely from natural fibers. In parallel, she explores 3D sculptural felting, crafting textured objects that merge wool with lace, viscose, stones, shells, and other unexpected materials — all without glue or stitching, using only the felting process.
